This project recently completed by the talented team at HL METALS Limited features GreenCoat standing seam roofing, standing seam wall cladding and GreenCoat interlocking panels with Nvelope support structure at the newly refurbished Northern meeting park in Inverness which is a modern tribute to the park’s historic Victorian grandstand.
Historical Replication: The geometric cutouts in the metal cladding are designed to echo the decorative details of the original 1864 grandstand, which is considered the world’s first purpose-built Highland Games stadium. The decorative details can be seen in the original photo.
Material Choice: it was decided that GreenCoat PLX steel panels Snow White finish would be the most suitable for the project. Greencoat panels are known for their sustainability, utilizing a bio-based coating made from Swedish rapeseed oil instead of fossil oils.
Functional Design: Beyond aesthetics, these perforated panels allow for backlighting, creating a glowing effect at night that enhances the public space while maintaining a “simple rectangle” form that doesn’t visually compete with the heritage structures.
