Metal Solutions and Master Roofers have partnered to address the need for hard metal roofing, leadwork and traditional slating training in Glasgow. Metal roofing specialists in Scotland and the wider UK are set to benefit from a significant new investment in skills and training, with the opening of a dedicated hard metal roofing training academy at Metal Solutions’ Glasgow premises.
The new facility has been developed to address growing demand for high-quality training in both modern metal roofing techniques and traditional leadwork. It will host a programme of hands-on training sessions covering hard metal systems including standing seam roofing, fascias, cappings and associated details as well as traditional leadwork.
“Training is essential to achieving the precision hard metal roofing demands, and this facility gives installers the opportunity to refine those skills before they’re applied on site.” – Paul Thomson
Designed specifically with working roofers in mind, the Glasgow training centre offers a practical learning environment that reflects real-world installation conditions. Attendees will receive expert guidance on best-practice installation methods, material handling and detailing, with a strong focus on long-term performance and workmanship standards.
“Quality leadwork is about detail, discipline and understanding the material — and that’s exactly what this training is designed to deliver.” – Stuart Rowles
The hard metal courses reflect increasing interest in materials such as colour coated steel, aluminium and zinc for both residential and commercial projects while the inclusion of leadwork training recognises the ongoing importance of traditional skills within the roofing sector. By bringing these disciplines together under one roof, the facility aims to support roofers looking to broaden their skill set or transition into new areas of metal roofing.
In addition to its training role, the Glasgow premises will operate as a regional hub for metal specialists and roofing tradesmen. Metal Solutions Glasgow already supplies a comprehensive range of metal roofing materials, roofing tools and machinery, and the expanded facility strengthens its position as a one-stop destination for the roofing trade.
